Hey bros,i'm going to upgrade my pc and i have a few questions but first here's the pc specs that i'm going to get
Cpu:intel i7 4790k
Gpu:msi gtx 970 or gtx 980
Ram:16gb
Mobo:msi z97s sli plus
Psu:cm v750 gold
So here's the questions
1.is it worth getting the gtx 980 over the gtx 970 since there's a big diffrence in the price?(I WANT TO PLAY ALL THE LATEST GAMES MAXED OUT AT A 1080P 60HZ MONITOR @40+FPS FOR THE NEXT 2-3+YEARS)
2.is this mobo good?i know that there's better but i mean can i stay with it or do i have to change it?
3.is this psu good?(i think it's a tier 1 psu but i just want to make sure.)
4.are all of these parts compatible?even if i go with a gtx 980?
Thx in advance :)
Have a good day bros 😀

A 980 isn't so called for the 4K gaming only. I run GTX 980 on a 1080p 144hz monitor. And I max out all my games. The next thing you need to know is that, the 970 being so much cheaper than the 980 can be overclocked to match the performance of a GTX 980 factory. But with the recent 980ti, the price of 980 itself has dropped quite a bit making it a much more viable choice to get 1 980 now and maybe add another one in the future to maintain more than 60FPS at max setting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4RyNNlKbJw He gives quite a good review on the GPUs you choose.

sry i forgot to mention that before...i want to play all the games at max setting and i'm going to use DSR @40+ fps for the next 2-3+years from nw without needing to upgrade anything so that's why i'm considring the gtx 980 for the dsr and future proof...so which one should i get?how about the rest of the questions i mentiones before?can u plz answer them?
sry 4 bad english 😀

1. For 1080p the gtx 970 can already get @60+ fps at ultra settings on shadow of mordor, and other demanding titles. In fact, anything above 60 fps is negated by your 60Hz monitor, so the advantage of the 980 over the 970 will be pointless.
2.You can stay with the mobo
3. The psu is good. You even have some headroom to sli either 980 or 970 should you choose to do so in the future.
4. All these parts are compatible, even if you go with the gtx 980. The last thing I would check for compatibility is the case where you're gonna try to fit all this in.

Well, that's not right, the gtx 960 is not a powerful card and will struggle at most demanding games. The 4 GB edition is stupid and way overpriced, it is almost the same performance as the 2 GB one. And the 980 is not for 4k, its for 1080p. You are free to choose between the gtx 970 or gtx 980 for that res, it depends on what you're willing to spend, but if you want it to last for the next 2-3 years get the 980.

yeah about the case.i'm confused between the cm cosmos se or the cm storm trooper which one is better?are they compatible with this rig?

ok thx man 😀 i have one last question which case do u think is better and will fit with the gtx 980 and this rig better the cm cosmos se or the cm storm trooper?they're both the same price here(almost)so which one is better and will fit in this rig better with the gtx 980?

Both cases you mentioned are massive cases so either one will fit the 980s and provide enough air flow for your entire system. The question is which one do you like ? Do you want a side panel window to admire your system or do you want a all black out case that does what a case does that is just hold the system together. So it all depends on you. I personally went with the NZXT H440 case. Fits my Asus Strix 980 although it does extends into the HDD bays. But since I use SSD only it doesn't affect me all that much. In fact with the H440 I could throw in a massive GTX 980 G1 Gaming by Gigabyte and still be able to fit everything in. It all depends on you which one you like.

Both are massive cases so worries about clearance. Just think which one would you like to look at for a long term since both cost about the same. You'd want a case that's pleasing to you since you're gonna be spending a lot of time with it.

Those are both pretty large cases, you shouldn't have any issues fitting your build into either case. Just pick whichever one looks better to you and you should be set.

Also, for CPUs and GPUs these lists are your best friends:

CPU -- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html
GPU -- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-card-review,3107-7.html

The articles should be updated within a few days for June, to reflect recent price changes and such. I agree with JingLuci about overclocking a 970, and you'd get more for your money with the 970. SLI with another 970 in future whenever you want/need more performance. You're only going to see 60 frames per second on a 60 Hz monitor, regardless of how many frames your GPU can actually push.

Totally agree on you with this one. But with the recent release of 980ti, the 980s price did drop to quite a competitive range and many more first time builders are looking to get the 980. That is what I feel about the current situation. Before the 980ti release. The 970 would be the best bet. Being nearly half the price means you can 2-way SLI 970s and have a rig that destroys the 980. But now, I really do feel that the 980 is starting to shine due to the price drops. Which will drop (most probably) even further once AMD release their new line up of their so called Titan killer cards.
