like the title says i recently build a gtx 1080 ti and 7700k rig and deciding on which monitor to get im going for 2k and im ok as long as i get 60fps g sync wouldn't be worth while with a rig like mine right?

Solution
If the system can fill most of the FPS on the games you play then g-sync isnt that important. For your system get a nice curved model. One thats 75hz atleast. I suggest this one as in the future Nvidia could support adaptive sync. That or nice 1440p 165hz which the 1080ti should fill no problem.

G-Sync won't really see any use given you're going for a 1080Ti at 1440p 144hz, at 4k I would consider it, not here though.
@elbert, the XB1 you listed is TN, get IPS instead, G-Sync won't get used with a 1080Ti at that fps level.
In saying that though in more demanding titles maxed you might get to use it.
Get this @OP, $30 more than a non-G Sync IPS 144hz 1440p monitor, well worth it.

I have an ultrawide Dell at the shop, and I can tell you for gaming it's use is few and far in between, you find that you're using black bars in 75% of games anyway.
The '7 extra inches' are horizontal, not diagonal as normal.
It's just a longer 1440p display generally, not worth it imo.

Na its a ultra wide 1440p which is higher resolution. IE 3440X1440 instead of 2560X1440 so I see misleading statements in your post.
