Question Is hdd about to fail! what I should do?!! High responses time and low speed

I have an old laptop with it i3 3110m and 10 go ram .
It boots up normally but after that I can't do any thing when I open any program or file it take about 15 minutes ,on the task manger the usage of cpu is not above 5% and the ram usage is low also but the hard disk usage 100% an the speed isn't above 0.1 mb and the response average time is 3000ms .
What I should do? I have important files on the hard disk, What is solution for that?

Have good daily backups.

Use it until i dies.

Replace it when it does.

could be laptop issue.
could try taking the hdd out to a external enclosure
