Is hdmi connector is important for graphics card

Solution
If you do not know HDMI is one direction output connection only and is a digital audio. The only Connection with 1080p or 4k 3840 X 2160.

There is HDCP [think copy protection] which is for standard HD. Now since 4k is here there was a need for an update to HDCP which is HDCP 2.2.

I had issues with HDCP and if you have an older monitor or TV you can turn off the HDCP in certain graphics cards.

Answer to your question, I think HDMI is the best resolution for consumer use. The only draw back is HDCP can cause issues of play back HD content which I have in the passed. Most graphics cards let the user turn HDCP off in the settings.
