I have Sony Vaio laptop with Intel 82GM45 chipset.
is Hynix 4GB PC3L-12800S RAM module compatible with it?

Hi and Welcome!
I don't think it's gonna be written somewhere what every motherboard supports what kit!
From what I see the chipset supports:
DDR2 667/800, DDR3 800/1066

So my first question is what your particular motherboard on the Vaio uses?
DDR2 or DDR3?
If its DDR2 mobo with that chipset... NO it's not supported!
If its DDR3 ... maybe... I think if you install it.. it will just run on 1066...and it will work.
