I found one used for a decent price, im not planning on overclocking, gaming is the main purpose. GPU is an rx 480 8 gb and i have an 8gb of ram. Also, is my motherboard (asus p8h61-m lx3 r 2.0) compatable for this I5 model?

Solution
What about i7 2600? I think my 480 will max out on i5 3570 and i don't plan on playing on higher settings...
your 480 8gb will be a better pair with i7-3770.
i7-3770 is better in every aspect than i7-2600.
Plus you rx 480 wont by any chance max out on i5 3570,it wont be even close to getting near the maximum.
And as those guys told you, older i5 arent any good anymore, just buy a old i7 which is still a amazing cpu today.
They told me the same thing as i wanted to upgrade to i5 3570 too,but the i7 3770 will eat 3570 for lunch.
