Is i7 3770 worth upgrading to anything else?

From gaming point of view in 1080p. I feel like the newer generations of processors from Intel/AMD do not offer anything more besides better power efficiency, which I give two figs about.

My estimate is that this CPU will not be outperformed at least for another 3 years, am I that far off?

For gaming that processor will easily last 3 years. No need to upgrade.
