Question Is i7 4770 and 4790 the same

I have dell optiplex 4770 however got broken, i want to buy i7 4790 will it fit? Thank you more power

The 4790 was a refreshed line. While it can be compatible with the same motherboard. It would have been up to Dell to provide a BIOS update to add support for the 4790. It may not be compatible.

If the CPU is broken. How do you know the motherboard is okay? Did it get physically damaged? CPU failure is extremely rare, almost unheard of. Outside of some external force which usually is accompanied by motherboard failure or a user tampering with overclocking.

Thank you sir. Apologies im not technical but im willing to learn from you. Hmmm. Coz my friend have spare 4790, im wondering if it will fit my board given that they are both 4th gen.
