Is i7 4790k enough for gaming at list~3 to 4 years?

I am planing to buy a new pc and i want to if i7 4790k is enough for 3 to 4 years for mainly gaming. I'm going to upgrade my gpu from time to time when needed. So please advice. Thank you.

Yes most likely, probably longer than that but i cant say for sure technology moves fast.

Look back at my 3 year old 2500k at 4.8Ghz, is it enough for gaming today? Yes.

I still have an i5 2500k which came out in early 2011 (almost 4 years ago), and I havent run into any issues for most games. Of course, nobody can predict the future, but older intel CPUs still hold up well today.

i'm still gaming with my 7 years old rig and its still enough

gigabyte x58 ud7 MOBO
core i7 920 (OC)
dual nvidia gtx 480
12 GB Of ram
2x250 raptor HDD in raid 0
1 TB HDD

so probably 4790 will be more than enough unless you r going to convert or edit videos or something like photo shop or adobe PRO products in general cuz it will like the benefit from the new GEN CPU (Core I7 5930K) cuz it support multitasking
