Is i7-7700K CPU good in 2017?

Hello, im upgrading my CPU, atm I have an i5-760 which is pretty old and its time to change it. My needs are for gaming, and so I saw i7-7700K or R7 1700. I wonder if the i7-7700K would be good in 2017 with only 4 cores (vs 8 similar IPC cores) because its for a long time, as you see Im still with an i5-760. So what you guys think?

The i7 7700K just came out not a while ago, so it will be tremendously good for 2017.

Currently the 7700k is the best gaming CPU on the market. If that's all your doing, go Intel instead of AMD.

I'd wait for the R7 re-benchmarks a few weeks from now where most of the major OS and firmware kinks will (hopefully) have been ironed out.

In principle, Ryzen should be more future-proof.

Yeah its for gaming only buy I want it for yearssss(just like my i5-760 been like idk 5 years)

Ditto on the 1700x rebenches, hopefully AMD sorts their sht out.
It'll last you a lot longer if they fix it up a bit.
