Question Is ( i7-980x & GTX 980 Ti 6GB) OR ( i7-970 & GTX 970 4GB) still good choice at 1080p with ultra and high settings to use in today's modern games?

Hello everyone!

Is ( i7-980x & GTX 980 Ti 6GB) OR ( i7-970 & GTX 970 4GB) still good choice at 1080p with ultra and high settings to use in today's modern games?

Build:

Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7
Ram: 16GB DDR3
System type: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (64-bit)
PSU: EVGA 650 GQ
LED Monitors: Samsung 22" BX2331 LED" 1920x1080 2ms Full HD
SSD Corsair force 3 120GB
HHD 500 GB+1TB

Anything that goes into X58 is comparable to late model i5s in terms of overall performance. Hex cores to Hex cores and quad cores to quad cores.

It is not economical, usually, to go after the higher end chips. They still command relatively high prices. So unless they are cheaper than, say, picking up a Ryzen 2600 board and memory, not worth it.

GTX980 Ti is still a decent card. Somewhat comparable to a GTX1070 or RTX2060.

GTX970 on the other hand, not so much. It has that 3.5GB memory issue and you will run into that more than you did back when it was released. Still at 1920x1080 it wouldn't happen that often. Only in games that use a lot of video memory.
