Hello,

I managed to buy an RMA i9-14900K from Ebay for $300 , sealed box. a replacement CPU . is the CPU stable now ? or should I use it at stock speed without overclocking?

Intel claims the stability issues are solved in their last bios update . is it confirmed ?

If you haven't purchased the motherboard yet, you should look at Gigabyte and MSI since Asus boards were the ones that had a degradation in performance or so that's what I'm reading. If I was in your place I wouldn't have invested in Intel, not when AMD's offering is better.

You can read into this reddit but not the main article, instead read the comments. You can go through this as a followup.

Thanks . well I cant find AMD 9800X3D anywhere for a reasonable price, and the boxed i9 14900K for $300 is a steal. and it is the closest in gaming performance ..

Intel has found and fixed the root cause of 13/14th gen issues.
Here is their official update as of 9/25/2024:
https://community.intel.com/t5/Blog...sktop-Instability-Root-Cause/post/1633446#M40

The warranty on these products has been extended by 2 years.

A user only needs to verify that their motherboard includes the fixed bios.

I might be worried that you received a previously damaged 14900K.
Buying from ebay does not get you the Intel warranty.

If the box was a rma replacement sealed by Intel, you are likely good.

Yeah, for $200 off on a sealed RMA I probably would have taken a chance as well. I would have some concern about the lack of warranty for you since this wasn't through a normal channel meant for retail resale. At the same time, I would probably try to hunt down a used high quality motherboard with a return window for proper operation. People are ditching Intel and should find something fairly readily. It would be pretty nice to have that CPU and a good mobo at or near the price of the CPU alone.
