Hey everyone, unfortunately this is my first post on tomshardware.com yet I've come here many times for help and recommendation. I'm looking to upgrade my horrid GeForce GT 620 graphics card to a GeForce GT 970... The problem is my power supply is a WHOPPING 280 WATTS! I've got the basic knowledge to know that this new graphics card will for sure not work with this graphics card. Please explain to me exactly what it is I need to do that will allow this sort of dream to become reality for me. I'd like to get this sorted out before my birthday on June 7th so there's time to finalize orders etc. Please help, any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

The exact computer I purchased is below in the link. No prior modifications have been made.

Everything should work perfectly apart from the power supply I would recommend having at least a 450w 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply I would recommend brands such as Corsair and Evga. I would also recommend upgrading the motherboard to a h97 or z97 however that is not essential good luck.

So you'd recommend upgrading the motherboard? Is that necessary for temporary use? I plan on eventually switching it out for something better but as of right now the power supply and the graphics card is going to empty out my pocket.
