I am buying a budget custom pc and found an Intel Celeron G3900 that fits my budget. But I did a bit of research and found celeron cpus are bad. I was thinking that the tests were only for the onboard graphics and not a built in one. So if I have a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 1050, will it be able to play some modern games?

The Celeron is still pretty weak whether you use integrated graphics or dedicated gtx 1050. It's only dual core. And processing power is not good enough for gaming.
If you're on a really tight budget, i seriously recommend you to get a refurbished or used desktop which has atleast a 2nd generation Core i5 or something higher.

According to this,

The Celeron is even slightly weaker than the 5-6 year old 2nd gen Core i3 2120.

I think you should go for something used, as i said above, at that price point.

Or if you can go higher than your current budget, you can get a Pentium CPU which is obviously better.

The celeron g3900 is only a dual core a lot of modern games don't even launch on dual cores anymore. I suggest you get the next step up the pentium g4560. It's 2c/4t and is a lot better for only 20$ more.

Nope. Nope. Nope.
The G4400 is also dual-core with only 2 threads.
You atleast need a CPU which is dual-core with 4 threads.
The only good Pentium is G4560. It has 2 cores with 4 threads.

Its doable but your gonna lag so hard you are going to wish you spent 70+ dollars more on a new cpu.

Tell us how much you can spend altogether, if you want to spend light but game well without much jittering on medium settings..

See these 3 parts, without the dedicated gpu it'll game some, save up the money and aim for a evga gtx150 gb oc super clock.

Not the major titles released after 2016 at all. I think almost all of them require a 4 threads CPU.
You could play pre-2016 stuff.
But what's the point of building a new system if you can't play the current games.
I think you should not go for the G4400 under any case.
And another thing, i think the GTX 1050 might also get bottlenecked by this CPU.
As the CPU won't have enough power to run games, the goodness of the gtx 1050 would be lost.
