My friend has showed me a laptop and asked if it is good, i have looked at the specs and reveiws but she wants to game a little on the laptop too. But i have no experience with intel iris graphics. You can never trust youtube videos. This is the laptop here http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/laptops-netbooks/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-p189sa-15-6-laptop-white-10075548-pdt.html#cat-0

Just wondering if you guys could look at it and see if it is a good laptop for the price, all she wants to do is internet browsing and homework, and gaming of course. Obviously it won't max out AAA games but it only has a 720p screen so i think it will be okay. Also i built my own pc so i don't really know about any these marketing scams that they put in but could you please just have a look to make sure it's okay. Also i think this is the same laptop just at a cheaper price http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/laptops/product-detail.html?oid=7537779#!tab=rnr

I just don't want to be the one to blame when i say "Yeah go ahead buy that" and then its absolute garbage or something?

Also on Pc world it says it has a 1.5Tb hard drive but with HP it says two 750gb?

Games such as - Gmod, Minecraft, Dead Island, Maybe even things like gta 5 Low settings?

Thanks!

EDIT: Just done some research, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Iris-Graphics-5100.91977.0.html Does this look true? All the games at the bottom of the page?

The Iris Pro (5200) is better than a gt820m. The 820m is similar to the normal Iris, only it'll suck down a lot more power.

If you are looking for a gaming laptop, you need to look for more gaming GPU's. If you just want a laptop that can game a little, then you'll be fine, just don't be upset that you'd have to play at low settings on the more recent demanding games.
it can play gmod minecraft and dead island but at low settings and gta 5 is a no go the laptop isn't made for gaming but it should do ok also hp seems for reliable since you know it is their product so i think it does have 2 750gb hardrives running in raid and the research you did looks about right

Not good enough for nowadays gaming, this laptop suffers, as most do, it has a damn good CPU, good RAM, but a GPU that's even sad to review as a gaming card, it's morel ike an HD video-watching type of card, if you want a laptop that can run games you have to spend a little more sadly, that's the problem with laptops, you could get a really good Desktop for the same money as your friend is trying to spend for the laptop
I hate giving bad news but i like to be honest
Cheers

Its ok for low settings gaming or medium-high settings in older games like Just Cause 2.

However something with dedicated graphics or the just released Iris 6100 would be better.
As far as dedicated graphics in Nvidia 740m-940m offer good bang for buck and play most games. Even 930m isn't too bad.
Same with AMD R7 m260 or 8770m.

Those are options that should give you a lot more graphics performance without costing too much more money.

the intel iris is good for older games as i said should achive at least 30 fps on dead island even my old amd a4 6300 could play it at 720p low settings and dead rising should be no different

dude the laptop is good for very light gaming the cpu it has is also good too it should the games you said at 720p 30 fps low settings maybe med on some games

I have lots of fun with my 740m laptop. I just stay clear of a few high end titles and enjoy medium-high settings gameplay at over 40FPS. I feel like GTA 5 is important here, and after my experience of GTA 4 not running properly on just the Iris 4400 then I don't want to recommend the Irsis Pro 5100 and see this person get disappointed when their game struggles in GTA 5.

Basically what I look for is the cheapest thing that meats my minimum list.
As an example I might say I want minimum A8 APU or intel i5 CPU with min: R7 m260 or nvidia 740 and at least 6GB of RAM.
Then I buy based on the cheapest thing that sells that hardware.

As an example for $600 Australian I got a laptop with i7 4700MQ, 740m and 8GB RAM 18 months ago on sale (just because people didn't like Windows 8). I would be very surprised if you can not find a laptop with i5 and a 840m graphics card for under 450 pounds.
