Hi
I was told that intel's CPU's that are mainly used for gaming contain 4 strong cores as opposed to amd's 8 cores that are weak. But Intel recently made an 8 core CPU.But are they strong or weak and how is the cache size so large.

The i7-5960X is Haswell-E, which is basically the same core as the regular desktop Haswell cores. Stock clocks are lower to accommodate the extra cores without increasing the TDP too much though.

Very few games make remotely meaningful use of more than four cores though and I seriously doubt this is going to change before the i7-5960X becomes obsolete, outclassed by much cheaper mainstream chips.

What makes the cores strong? I have heard that generally single core GHZ makes the most difference. So a 4790k would be better since it overclocks well to like 5 GHZ. I believe it may be harder to overclock the GHZ on that 8 core CPU. But then again, what do I know?
