Is this the new standard in monitors?
Looking at replacing my Samsung T260HD (moving it to bedroom just for a tv) with another monitor. Do a little gaming, and heard IPS isn't good for gaming.
I like my 25.5" IPS monitors. They are a bit expensive though since they both use the H-IPS LCD panel. I like using them for games. However, I assume you are looking at the cheaper e-IPS panels.
They should be fine for playing games since they have 8ms response times. Not sure if any of them have 6ms (like H-IPS / S-IPS / P-IPS), but then again I have not really kept track of them. 8ms is fine for games, however, the higher the response times the higher the chances you can potentially see ghosting.
The e-IPS panels should have better viewing angles (less off center color shifting) than TN panel monitors, but not quite as good as the other more expensive IPS panels I've mentioned above. Input lag varies from monitor to monitor, but the 23" Dell U2312HM has the lowest amount of input lag of any IPS panel monitor currently out there.
gamers just think that the ultra low response times tn panels offer is superior and ignore the major faults of tn panels such as what was listed above.
keep in mind that gamers also recommend $50 mousepads... take all advice with a big grain of salt.
