I have an HP 15t-K100 that was given to me with a dead motherboard. I am capable of very basic motherboard repair, but I am positive that it is beyond my ability to ever fix.
Looking around on Ebay, motherboards for this model are too expensive, and I have been putting off fixing this laptop for about 2 years now waiting for the prices to drop, but they just don't. Meanwhile, the motherboards for a 15-P can be found for under $70, such as this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-HP-Pavilion-15-P-AMD-Laptop-Motherboard-A4-6210-762528-501-Tested-Ok/123098850622?var=null
I've studied the pictures very closely with the K100 motherboard in hand for reference, and all of the ports/connectors, screwholes, and heatsink mounts are in the same place, with the exception of the connector for the fingerprint reader, which is absent on the 15-P motherboard, but I am fine with this since I don't ever use fingerprint readers. I know that this one may not perform as well because of the processor, but I'm fine with that.
Before I buy, I figured I would ask here if there is anything I'm missing. Obviously, having not repaired the laptop for 2 years, I'm not in too much of a rush, but the next time Ebay offers a 15 off 75, or a %15 off over $50 coupon, I'm probably going to give it a try unless anyone here can give me good reason not to.
