Is it a bad idea to buy a gtx 1060 with my current cpu?

So, me and my friend have the exact same pc build, and he was thinking about upgrading to a gtx 1060 (6GB). With my current cpu being a AMD Athlon 860K (3.7GHz) I was wondering how badly my pc would be bottlenecking.

My current build;
AMD Athlon X4 860K 3.7GHz
GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB (Unaware of exact model)
8GB RAM (1600MHz, 1x8GB)

The reason we want this gpu is because we are also intending to buy an new cpu within 2017. (Possibly the i5 6600k, hence the massive increase in gpu price and performance.)
I'm aware bottlenecking will occur but could this damage any of my parts? We were planning to just allow it to bottleneck until we have saved up enough to get a better cpu.

So, will we see a significant increase in performance with my current AMD cpu? We we're planning on playing titles such as BF1, Overwatch, GTA V, Rainbow Six Siege. During the BF1 beta my frames were horribly low and I'm afraid I might not even see a (decent) increase due to the amount of bottlenecking.

I know the obvious answer is to simply wait until we can purchase all the parts at once but we would really like to be playing battlefield by Christmas time. I'm also aware that i will need to change motherboard once purchasing my new cpu.

Any input is much appreciated. Thank you!

The X4 860K will bottleneck but the 7600K(KabyLake due in January) should be fine. In either case bottlenecking will not damage parts. Just your wallet. :) I would suggest either the 1050ti or RX470 as the prices are much better around $139~169. The 1050ti is faster than the GTX960.
