Is it a good idea to purchase a 7870 right now?

Are there new models coming out this year? Is the 7870 worth it? if yes, what manufacturer? or should i get an Nvidia counterpart? Thanks in advance!

Depends on your budget and how urgently you need it. Regardless of the cards that will be out later this year, the 7870 is a great card, especially the 7870 XT version.
