It's not bad at all, and completely doable. As long as you're able to install both at the same time, you can either just move things physically, which takes a long time, or use a program like EaseUS to clone the drive. Simple.

Is it 'bad' to clone a drive? No. That being said, you clone it identically, so you take the good/bad/indifferent. Registry errors etc all clone too - so a clean install is preferred.

Formatting a drive, in & of itself is not a bad thing either. Excessive formatting though (daily/weekly/monthly etc), can impact the lifespan of an SSD - HDD's, not so much.

No, it is not bad to clone or format your drive.

But it is pointless to clone to and then format your SSD, because it will cost 1 P/E cycle of writes to the SSD for no purpose whatsoever.
