I got a new computer recently, and I am often finding I am wanting to reboot for many different reasons.

Often the games I am playing freeze, or there are bugs or crashes with software, and I find rebooting often fixes the issue.

But is it bad for a computer to boot it several times a day?

Thanks for the advice.

Rebooting is not bad, other than power off and on several times while the system was still running.

if it´s a new computer, you should troubleshoot it and find out what´s wrong or give it back to the seller.

What do mean "other than power off and on several times while the system was still running"?

Rebooting is exactly that, right? It turns the power off and then back on while the computer is running.

Maybe I'm not understanding your response, sorry.

I think you'll have to check on the freezing issues and crashes first as it's unlikely it's a software bug.

as above mentioned, rebooting isn't bad, but causes constant reads & writes to your storage device. this is by no means a huge impact at all, but just so you're aware :)

Thank you, that was very helpful!

Their are several ways to restart ( reboot ) your pc.

Use the power button icon that appears when you click on the windows flag ..... recommended
Press your power button and that will turn it of ..... NOT recommended
Press control alt delete at the same time and you now have 2 options , you can either click on the circle at bottom right and do a restart , alternatively when you look at task manager processors right click on the game that has crashed and do end process.

Type view reliability monitor into the search box and click on the reliability wording , you will see a lot of red x showing how many times the pc has crashed.

As you say it is a new machine you should take it to where you got it from as these crashes should not be happening , ask them to let you use the games in the shop so you can show them how things crash.

Dont know what country your in but dont let the shop fob you off and say its not faulty , i once had a new pc that kept crashing so i left it and the game disc in the shop ........ when i went back they said they had used it many hours without a crash , i opened the games save folder that i had set to make save every 10 minutes , their were no saves ........ they had NOT used it.

Thanks, check out my other thread on all the Windows errors I'm getting after my games have crashed recently, maybe you can help, but definitely considering contacting the manufacturer.
