I am looking at two laptops. One has 8GB RAM with a dedicated GPU w/ 2GB RAM:

Vostro 15 3590 Laptop
10th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-10510U Processor (8MB Cache, up to 4.9 GHz)

  • Windows 10 Pro 64-bit English

  • AMD Radeon™ 610 Series with 2G GDDR5 graphics memory

  • 8GB, 8Gx1, DDR4, 2666MHz
and another has 12GB RAM with shared graphics memory:

Lenovo IdeaPad S540-14API 81NH0019US Notebook
• AMD Ryzen 7 3700U • 12GB memory/512GB SSD

which of these will give me better performance? thanks.

EDIT: I will not be playing games on the laptop. I am an interior designer and will be running AutoCAD, Revitt, Adobe Illustrator etc.

Another laptop I have found at same price point is this:
Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55SD
Its advertised as a gaming laptop but has 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and dedicated graphics card. The processor is 10th Generation Intel Processor - Intel Core i5-10300H (2.50 GHz) which is less powerful.

Can someone help me decide which will be best for me? thanks

Since you are primarily going to be running AutoCAD, you should be better off using the one with a dedicated GPU rather than a RAM. You could certainly upgrade the RAM in the future, so I feel dedicated graphics RAM should be the pick.

In that case, I would suggest that you need the Dell Vostro 15 3590, which is only 50 bucks more than the IdeaPad S540 and a great buy. The laptops you have shortlisted are pretty closely matched in terms of features and performance. Happy to be of any help! Cheers!
