Hi,
I want to retire my old TV being used as a monitor.
Now is it better to go for a LCD TV being used as a Monitor (HDMI port) or go for a proper PC Monitor?
What are advantages of using a Monitor rather than TV as monitor.
Would there be a difference in picture quality between TV & monitor?
Thx

What screen size are we talking about ?
Do you need a tuner for over-the-air broadcasts ?

Ok..about 24 to 27"
No over the air RF tuner needed.
So should I go for TV as monitor or better go for monitor.

One more question, do you need multiple HDMI inputs ? If so, then a TV monitor probably supports that requirement better. Computer monitors tend to have one input in several different form factors (HDMI, DP, USB-C, etc).
A 27inch 1080p monitor looks awfully pixelated from a standard 1m desktop viewing distance. 24inch, not as bad. For 27inch you typically want 1440p.

My current TV being used as monitor has certain pitfalls. Every time I change resolution, picture cuts off at boundaries of the screen. Using TV remote have to readjust the picture size every time. Also I notice that 1360x768 is more soothing to eyes than 1080p .

Now to buy a device to be used as monitor, I am not too sure if I go for TV or pure monitor.

I need 2 HDMI ports. 24" will do. However there are no FHD TV in 24' all are HD ready.
I am more trying to understand from the perspective of picture quality, color, contrast, refresh etc that define monitor settings.
Also I am not a gamer so anything like AMD sync etc are not important.

Computer monitors, especially the more expensive ones, like the Dell U series have much better color (they come factory calibrated). TVs are factory set to WOW.
If color accuracy is important then a computer monitor will be better, IMO.

this can be corrected in gpu driver settings, there you can force aspect ratio/screen fill

Depends on, what you use it for.
For watching videos - a large size TV is better.
For web browsing, office productivity, gaming - monitor is better.
What are advantages of using a Monitor rather than TV as monitor.
Depends on monitor model entirely.
Monitor is better suited for everything other than watching videos.
Would there be a difference in picture quality between TV & monitor?
Again - entirely depends on monitor and TV models compared.
TV usually have more image post processing. This may improve image quality, but will also increase latency.
