Hello,
I have an inspiron 3521 with the following specification:
Intel 3rd generation core i3 cpu: HD 4000
AMD Radeon HD 7670m

I have never had any problem with the Dell supported drivers.

My problem is that newer Flash content stutters.
Youtube videos show horizontal tears at 1080p.
Same is or VLC, GOM, etc.
This did not happen back in 2013 or 2014.
Ps: NFS Rivals and mw performance is same as before and is playable at medium settings.
I have reinstalled the OS(Win 7 64bit) and all the software is updated( including Gom, Flash; etc).

So I was hoping to solve this problem by updating to the latest graphics drivers from Dell website.
But all the system drivers by Dell were last updated on 13 September 2013.
While Intel has newer drivers as of 2015. Also the latest AMD Catalyst Control Drivers are out.
Same is for Realtek, etc.

The problem with newer AMD drivers is that all my colleagues who installed this driver faced problems with switchable graphics: In the sense that they could run only a few application on the dedicated graphics card.In my case, I can run any application on any card (like flash plugin for chrome etc). Also it shifts the application on the power saving card on battery and (as performance is choppy, while mine is fine for old games).
Sorry for such a long question.

So I was hoping if you could answer my question that is it better to use updated Generic drivers or stay with those provided to you by your device manufacturer?

Solution
Often times dell release tweaked versions of the same drivers to be compatible with their bios, especially the gpu

Might be safer to stick with what dell provides
Go to the AMD site and download the latest drivers shown for you GPU. After a given product is out of the production or sell cycle, updates get fewer and fewer from Dell. Amd however does continue to improve their drivers over a wide range of GPU. Also I have found the newer sound drivers to solve several client issues with the newer games.

While in my case, the dedicated card`s performance is better than the intel HD 4000 even on battery. I don`t care about battery time(I get about 1hr 46min while playing games).

So my problem is that while video stutters in newer application while older games play just fine.
Any Solutions, Please help.

I did that and then I reinstalled my (OS Win 7 64 bit ) and updated all the applications.
Still the problems persist on newer applications.

Actually, is there any solution for the video showing stuttering/horizontal tears in many applications?

I suggest you update your AMD drivers. I see no reason why current drivers would not run anything that could be run using the HD4000. Perhaps your associates have other issues. In any case you are not them. Drivers can be rolled back. Try the latest non beta drivers. Perhaps if you list your system specs. other suggestions could be offered. Have you tried adding RAM to the system?

Salaam. I updated drivers for intel HD4000 and Amd radeon Hd7670m on my dell inspiron 5520 to the very latest generic drivers i had downloaded from AMD site and intel website..i completely wiped my previous graphics driver firstly Amd via control panel and then searched my drives like C and regedit for leftovers and made sure no AMD ATI or related files and folders r spared deleted all of them even from the registry via regedit (type it in search) and after doing this rebooted and then uninstalled intel HD 4000 from device manager ..default monitor got on.
I rebooted again and firstly installed HD 4000 latest version and it got installed this time (previously it wud refuse to install gave sme kind of compatability error) and i got happy coz the main issue is to update intel hd graphics and restarted and after that i successfully installed Amd latest Beta drivers and rebooted !! Gaming jumped from 20-30 fps to above 60fps ..i was so fucking surprised. The graphics were mind-blowing and gaming was awesome (AC Black flag)
