why does many people buy GTX 660 instead of R9 270x ? By benchmarks and specs. the R9 270x is way better than the 660 but a little costlier, also the performance per dollar is better in R9 270x, then what's the reason?

Some people just like the GTX660 because it is Nvidia. It is often found on great deals and is in the same performance group basically can play all the same games just a few FPS fewer.
