My CompTi teacher calls what I know as the “BIOS” the “CMOS” I told him that the CMOS is a battery on the motherboard he said that I was wrong just wanting to know if I am or not

Solution
No, the BIOS is software stored in a flash chip called an EEPROM. The CMOS is in the southbridge/PCH and is low-power RAM that holds your customized settings. That's why removing the battery erases the CMOS--it's volatile RAM. It doesn't erase/deprogram the BIOS which is good because that would brick it.
