I have the normal windows input defense system and the free AVG, is it worth it? Because AVG seems to be consuming a LOT of ram.

I doubt a second antivirus of the same capability is worth it.
Windows defender ranks high on the ability to detect known viruses.
To catch "in the wild" viruses takes a more robust and resource consuming anti virus.
Most viruses enter via "social engineering"
If you are prudent, Defender is all you really need.

I've been using defender only for about a decade now. Only got infected once from a link to vimeo via reddit. It was the usual Windows Anti-Virus 201x malware and was easily removed. Must have just caught a shiny new release of it before the definitions had been updated.

Real time AV tools are pretty resource intensive.

The best Anti-Virus is your eye and finger. Windows Defender is enough for anyone. Just dont go to sketchy sites and download files. I have been using Windows Defender ever since it was OneCare back in 07? 08? And thats all I have needed.

Best detection engine is KASPERSKY.

Really good for reporting back to mother Russia as well. Implicated twice with proof this most recent time. I mean, not that pretty much every other thing you do on your PC/phone/smart TV isn't phoning someone....

IME don't run two AV instances at the same time. Often causes issue.

I use Defender across my own devices. For some work instances and people that simply don't seem to get safe practices I use Symantec Endpoint Protection. Regardless of that, my kids and that work partner have found ways. As Dark Lord says above, the best is between your ears.

Your best safety is between your ears.
But I run malware bytes premium and have windows defender set to run random scans.
This keeps Malware bytes as my main protector and windows defender runs in the background and runs random scans.
So far no conflicts running this way for many years.

My wife and mother in law are not real computer savy, so best to protect them as much as possible.
