For many mobile apps, immediately after they are downloaded and installed, a lot of permissions are
requested and granted before you can proceed any further or some apps would even stop working.
A lot of time the permission for memory storage is requested. which means it is possible, not always,
they'll be able to get a copy of the photos and other data on your phone even if you don't consiciously
send them to their services.

Can it be understood that it's generally more secure to use a computer , windows, a web browser because
you are not asked for the permission of the data on your hard drive and so nothing on your hard drive will be copied to their server ? Or is it practically the same
if you visit a website with a browser on PC? As fas as I know, on a PC, they'll be able to only know your IP address, your hardware configuration and your OS version which are nothing too personal.

Of if I am over worried for something that is unlikely to happen??

I've never heard of or had experience with mobile apps that use their permission to access storage maliciously, but I wouldn't be surprised if they exist. However, many apps in windows ask for permissions, and won't run if you don't allow them. And apps can run or access other files in your system, if they know they exist.

It's unlikely to happen on either OS, as long as you're careful.

There is a lot to be said about the practices that various entities have concerning your privacy. PC or Mobile, when you consider track records for Google, Apple, Microsoft for mining information and data collection and even aside from the various permissions you grant them.....assume that every single thing searched, viewed, and written online is in a digital folder somewhere with your "name" on it.

In my own mind I feel more secure making payments and such on my computer, and even at that only one of them. I don't tie my phone to my bank accounts, paypal, or make any manner of payments through it. At that same time I am very particular about what I will install to my computing devices in general. I don't DL all the trendy games, swap your face up apps, chat apps, or any of that.

The most insecure part is the squishy thing between your ears.

However, the mobile ecosystem spawns many "apps" that gather far too much info, and transfer that on to other companies.

A LOT of it is simply clueless "developers". I put that in quotes because they should not be called developers, but rather "idiots".
Using some framework or wrapper, that they have no idea what it actually does behind the scenes, to show shiny bits on your screen.
