Is it my monitor or my video card

For the past few days I'm having a problem that's driving me crazy. In the upper left corner of my monitor is a small discolored triangle. It appears to be yellow but of course changes depending on the background at the time. Without another monitor, diagnosing the problem seems impossible. The spot is always the same size and in the same location. It's near the My Documents icon and appears to share a side with the icon.

I want to say video card but I'm not sure. :?

as it sounds i think it is your monitor.
to be sure about it change the resolution of screen ex.800x600
and see if the triangle moves from the usual location.
if it is still there there is no doubt that is monitor fault.
