Is it necessary to reapply thermo paste now?

Hello im changing my motherboard today so i got to remove CPU and CPU Cooler to install them on the new motherboard. But the problem is that i don't have thermal paste now is it possible to use the old one for 1 week without my CPU burns? Please help me because im really stressed about that.

You can use it without thermal paste yes. But it is a huge risk since you dont have the paste to control the temperature, u risk overheating ur CPU.

You could, but i don't think it's a very good idea. Just be careful.

Delay your upgrades until you can get a thermal paste.
You'll have to get it anyway. Or, if it is easier, get a new cpu cooler with thermal paste pre-applied.

Old thermal paste most likely is dried up and unusable.

Thank you all i reapplyed the thermal paste but my CPU now reach 40c ( degrees ) when its just on dekstop without any apps is that bad? In Grand Theft Auto 5 its around 67c on the highest settings. Am i in need for new cooler? Bcs i have the stock one my CPU isnt overclocked. Sorry for my english.
