Is it normal for a pop/click sound when volume is adjusted rapidly?

Asking for a friend who has had the issue for a while, if volume increases rapidly he hears a quick pop/click sound, eg if he spams the youtube volume slider rapidly he can reproduce the pop sound everytime.

he has had the same issue even with a new pc but the same gpu.

i have heard it is common with high end gpu's?

his specs of the top of my head are
Aorus Extreme 1080ti
8700K Stock
800w Corsair Gold Modular
Trident Z RGB Ram 3000mhz
Z370F Strix Mobo

No as far as i know that shouldnt have anything to do with the gpu. Its probably the headphones/speakers hes using or the soundcard but you mentioned that the problem persisted when he changed to another pc.

It seems to be persistent with his astro's/logitech speakers, even though he has tried unplugging all usb's etc and replacing them 1 by 1, still the same, its not a huge issue but noticeable from what i can notice.
