Is it ok for the CPU fan bracket to touch both my case and the motherboard?

Title says it all. I'm planning to install a hyper 212 evo into my current motherboard today without taking it out of the case since my case has a handy little cutout to let me get at the back of the motherboard.

However, if you look at pictures of the evo's mounting bracket, you'll see that they used just one bracket for both AMD and Intel by essentially putting four little arms on the AMD bracket. While it looks like the window is just wide enough for me to slip it in under the mobo, it looks like two of these little arms may contact my case, but the arms do have those little green pads on them which as meant to be able to touch the motherboard safely, so there shouldn't be any conductivity.

Do you think I have anything to worry about, or should I go ahead with the install? There is a chance that it won't touch, but it looks like it will be pretty close!

Solution
If the backplate is in electrical contact with the mb you have a problem whether or not it touches the case or mb tray .

I doubt having it touch the mb tray will be a problem in its self . But make sure the mounting screws are able to be tightened properly

The Hyper 212 has one of the most annoying mounting mechanisms ... and dangerous too..... had 2 builds come in recently w/ dead MoBos....one MoBo was physically damaged from a burr on bottom of one of the mounting pieces....the other we dunno what happened, MoBo was just dead after install.....I turn of machine unplug it and let sit for at least 20 minutes before starting

Really? Considering how popular it is I would have thought I'd have heard more about that. Is the danger in the system itself, or is it just easier to do wrong than others?

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? As long as I let it sit unplugged for 20 minutes or more before starting, work gently, and use my little grounding bracelet, should I have anything to worry about?

Ok, went I was putting on the bracket I found that it did touch the case, but only by the little intel tabs that are covered with the green anti-static pads anyway. It actually had enough pressure to make the bracket pop-up a little on the other side until I tightened down the screws.

I put it on anyway though, and everything seems to be running fine. Do I have anything to worry about, or should I be in the clear?

Well for $30, just how much quality control can ya expect ? There was a clear burr on the bottom of the mechanism and this cut into the MoBo.. ... kinda surprising that there is no plastic washer or part between the metal and the MoBo.

Oh ok, so that guy just got a slightly defective unit and put it on anyway? I'm actually a little glad, I thought all of them were risky 😛

a motherboard should have electrical contact with tower.trough the fastner holes for the skrues.just be shure that you have used the rigth standoffs so the soldering pins on the backside off M board dont make contackt with the tower off metal.
