Hi,

Recently I upgraded my PSU from 350 watts to 500 watts and Graphics Card from Zotac GT 610 2GB DDR3 to MSI GTX 1050ti OC 4GB DDR5. Previously it was working fine. But now I need a opinion on this.

My desktop configuration:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H
CPU: Core i5 4690 -3.5GHz
Memory: Kingston HyperX DDR3 8GB @1866Mhz
Hard Disk Drive: WD 2 TB 7200RPM
SSD: Samsung EVO 120GB
Graphics Card: MSI GTX 1050Ti OC 4GB (I will not overclock it)
CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212X
Fan: 2 fans - 80mm
Power Supply Unit: MasterWatt Lite 230V (ErP 2013) 500W 80 Plus
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 633NW - LCD monitor - 15.6 - 1360x768 [VGA]

I generally play games.

I want to plug this PC to a APC RS 600VA (output 360 watts) UPS. Will it work?

Solution

Practically, your PSU rarely or never use full amount of power to run your PC. The components in your system tell us what your likely power draw will be. But during a heavy gaming and CPU,GPU consumption the power drawn is more as compared with UPS to your PSU, and hence the lifetime of the battery decreases. If you get a decent UPS like APC with a pure sine wave, then the battery will last for few years.

It might give you around 10-15mins backup. So a proper shutdown in between 2-3 minutes after the main power is gone will not be an issue.

Can you please explain why battery will not last? Actually I just want a proper shutdown in between 2-3 minutes after the main power is gone.
Another thing, does it effect the motherboard, graphics or cpu in future?

It doesn't effect the motherboard or the graphics card. If you have a decent UPS like APC with a pure sine wave, then there wont be any issue.

Good Luck.:) Peace.
