Before i do it i want to make sure its ok. Most make up brushes are anti static right? So it should be fine if i do it softly. Don't have any money for compressed air so looking for alternatives.

I can't vouch for make-up brushes being antistatic and it's not safe to assume they are. In any case it's impossible to do the job thoroughly with any type of brush. You need a can of compressed air, you can buy it from Amazon quite cheaply. The best deal is a four-pack of 5-Star Air Duster but you can also buy a double-pack or a single can of the same stuff although you save by buying the four-pack:

UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=5+star+air+duster

USA: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=5+star+air+duster

If you can't afford even a single can don't attempt to clean inside your PC at all - - wait until you can afford the proper stuff.

So you are saying there is no other way to clean my pc without compressed air? I don't and will not have enough money for compressed air in the near future and my pc really needs a clean. Are you sure there are no other ways?

No, never use a brush on the inside of your case, always use compressed air. The action of brushing will generate static which will then be discharged on your expensive motherboard. Same goes for a vacuum cleaner.

You can pickup compressed air at the dollar store.

Not safely while avoiding static. I know people are going through hard times, but you can afford a computer and the electricity that powers it but you cant afford a 5 dollar can of air?

Im 15. My parents are poor and i got this pc in 2011 from my grandparents. I have no money. I was hoping there was a household item i could use.

Well im sorry but I cant recommend you start going to town on your pc with a makeup brush, you could damage something then you will wished you begged your parents for 5 bucks to get a can of air. Like others have said you can use a compressor if you know anybody that has one just make sure its not blowing out any water and turn it down a bit you dont want to blow off a capacitor or something.

Would this be ok? I might be able to scrape up a pound. http://www.poundland.co.uk/air-duster

I have never used compressed air before so should i use it for a bit on other stuff so i can make sure i dont get the liquid on my pc?

Just keep the can upright and make sure your PC is off and unplugged from the mains. If the case is very dusty, have a vacuum cleaner running to suck up the dust bunnies that come flying out.

The can will get very cold while you use it, the colder it gets the less pressure you'll have. Use short bursts.

Ok thanks. If i do get any of the liquid on there are the parts fucked or...?

they will be fine provided they are off and left to dry before you restart the PC, although it.s fairly hard to get liquid out of the cans if you use them properly, and the stuff that does come out will evaporate really fast

I personally think it should be fine! Just be careful.
