[SOLVED] Is it ok to keep a cpu in the motherboard for a few days?

I've got all my bits except coolers and cables. I want to install everything I have and put it in the case to see where and what sort of space I have.
I want to install the cpu just to keep it with everything else, while I await the rest of the parts.
Would this do any harm?
It'll just be sitting in the motherboard a few days with nothing on it.
Only problem I can think of is dust.

That's a good plan. There are no problems with keeping your CPU in the socket. Just remember to clean the dust off the CPU prior to applying thermal paste.
