Question Is it ok to remove a GPU I/O shield?

Is it safe to remove this shield or is it necessary to keep it on for stability?
Can you maybe take some pictures of where it's going to mount. Maybe even hold the card right where the issue is as to why the shield is preventing keeping it on. If I paid what you must have for that card my concern would be for the card even if I had to use a dremel tool to make the case work with the card.

Here's a pic. The metal I/O shield is making the card longer.

Well darn your wall to wall with that case. One way or the other with or without the shield somehow I guess you will need to figure out how to secure card.

Me I would be shopping a bigger case but that's not always an option.

Right, but I think it'll fit.

Question remains: is it safe to remove a GPU I/O metal plate?

case isnt designed for that the reason your is so big is the teeth from the io metal plate dont stick out horizontally hence why you cant i would not remove the io as its a means to take the weight of the cooler removing it and trying to install the card would damage the cards pcb or potentially crack it if installed without it.

It's not just a shield but required mount, I doubt it would fit anyway because of the PCIe bus has set distance and you can't move card in it. Another option is to get thinner fans, those of 15mm. that would give you another 10mm of clearance.

I was going to mention the fixed position of the slot as well but thought maybe they modified the posts in the case to move the MB forward.

I think your fan idea is a decent compromise (but again compromise) if OP wants to keep that small case which really isn't ideal in the first place for heat.
