Question Is it ok to use some higher settings in RDR2 with a Radeon 680M iGPU ?

Is it ok to change some of the in-game settings to mid or high when using this integrated GPU?
RDR2 in-game indicator shows 7000MB for this and I believe it is incorrect value. Is it ok to use higher than real vram if that's make any sense? I will be cooling the CPU with 720p 20fps anyways so I was looking to justify that a bit by increasing the settings like Shadow Quality to Mid and Parallex thing to Ultra. Texture Quality is set to Mid. I always set texture to mid even with RTX cards.

Is this all okay? I'd rather not giveaway my laptop name and all that because some people will treat it like as if it's trash. Hope you understand!

I am not familiar with the 680M, but increasing the game's settings won't cause damage to your hardware. Worst case scenario, the game is unplayable (low fps, stuttering), then you lower your settings until you are happy with the result.

That will also more than likely decrease already very low FPS. but yes you can push as much as you are comfortable with FPS. If you are playing in full screen mode, try in window mode,might get better results.
Don't know what you mean by using "Higher than real vram" APU uses only system RAM, has no Vram.Using more than installed RAM means using virtual memory which is on disk and that's much slower even on fast NVMe SSD.

Your best to keep textures to medium and shadows low for best framerate. Going higher will just cause all sorts of issues. Shadows impact GPU performance alot so I would keep that low have textures on high but not ultra there's barely any benefit

Thanks all, I'm just trying to get shadows to mid because that will render character faces properly and nothing messy in visuals, without shadows face look like some toy without soul. I will try and will post the results here.

Btw, in Horizon Zero Dawn game warned me to not use igpu I ignored the window then game loading began to strange glitches and visual errors such as colourful lines on screen. Hopefully this time that isn't going to be the case.

Disaster in temps, to my liking anyways.

Everything is either off/low except shadows to mid. Native screen is 720p but with 40fps limited by MSI Afterburner.

Laptop become a hot oven even before booting the game. It magically jumped to 74c of Integrated GPU and kept rising. Had to re-enable RTX card to play in my safe limits, I'm not comfortable with such temps especially when it keep rising nonstop every 10mins or so.

UPDATE: I just learned there is a setting named "cpu boost" in power settings of Control panel and it is hidden by default.

Should I do the regedit edit and disable that to reduce the CPU/APU temps? Can this setting mess with my SSD power thing? I learned after years that CPU speed related to SSD power consumption.

Settings available for game your trying to run ? Check your laptop Is set to power plan performance mode.

That would also reduce performance. Boost is any frequency over standard.
CPU speed is not directly related to SSD performance. Disk drives including SSDs use DMA (Direct Memory Access) so it bypasses CPU.

Thank you friends! I understand CPU is not directly affects to SSD performance, however I noticed something in my doings, lowering CPU % speed at Advanced Power Settings>Processor Power Management also reduces the SSD heat a tiny bit. You sure it is not related to SSD? Perhaps I'm missing something here.

Either way, I just clicked the "Passive" System Cooling Policy at same window, perhaps that would be helpful in my quest to reduce the heat of all things. I saw it before, thermal reducing speeds can reduce the temps like in miliseconds, perhaps this is would do the same thing.

My laptop only have Balanced plan mode. When I try the add default ones via CMD it either gives an error or added in shadows.I don't get any other power plan other than Balanced.

UPDATE2: My laptop came with software called armoury crate but I removed that thinking it is a bloatware of somesorts. Should I get the latest version from ASUS and play around the settings? I heard slient profile there works wonders.
