I'm getting Corsair RM1000 that has been used. it has been used for mining and powered 5x rx480. I have physically checked the psu myself, it seems to power up just fine and doesnt make any noise or such thing, but what i would like to know that is it good option to buy it? Im buying this from a close friend anyway

Solution
5X RX480's with a modified mining bios would draw between 720W-760W, that is well within the limits of that supply. I think it would be perfectly safe to invest in that PSU as long as the price is right. 1000W unit is way overkill for typical gaming use though.
If it is from a close friend, and it fails and burns up your system, is the friendship worth what ever you are paying? Mixing friends and money can be tricky.

Since it is from a close friend, you know what the environment it has been used in, temperature wise.

Solution

1. not really
2. its $130 cheaper than the new one as the new one is around $230 here
3. i was planning to get a cs 750m for $130 but that used mining psu is like $30 cheaper plus more power
