[SOLVED] Is it okay to cut excess metal from my Gtx 1080?

So, to make a long story short, the graphics card won't actually fit properly in my case.
I mean, it fits properly, but it has an issue.
As the card gets progressively towards the rear of the pc, it comes out of the pcie slot ever so slightly. This slight tilt actually gives the pc problems booting unless someone forces it in while it starts. I believe the issue lies within these long prongs.

Would it damage my card in any way to chop these parts off? I don't believe so, but I'm not very experienced with it.

You probably wouldnt damage anything, but they add stability to the card to prevent PCIe lane damage.
Can you post a picture of the issue youre having? The card should lock into place.

It could be that you need to bend them slightly so that they slide between the board and case as they're made to do. If you have to cut them off, it's not going to hurt the card, but you shouldn't need to.

As you can see in that image ^, it peaks out a bit as it goes down the pci slot.

As you can see in that image ^, those prongs shove down into the motherboard and clip, so they can't fully settle in.

Hmm, it should be slotting in just fine, however the screws that hold the GPU in place should provide enough down pressure to keep this from happening.
How well is it screwed in?

I mean it is screwed in as well as it can be. I think the screws on this case are slightly higher than usual, so it isn't holding it as down as it should. I mean, it FUNCTIONS, but I'm scared seeing it poke out like that.

If its screwed down and the top of the bracket is flush with the case then cutting the lower tabs wouldnt really do anything, could be an issue with the case standoffs or motherboard install as well.

What is your motherboard mounted on? There are always slots cut in the tray you mount the motherboard to that those tabs go into. You've either mounted it on "not a motherboard tray" or mounted the board a little off. If those tabs find their proper place the card will seat properly on the board and in the case.

The prongs aren't flush with the case, that's what I am saying. It isn't long enough.

I'll have to double check I suppose, but it mounted without issue and the piece of the motherboard protruding from the case is aligned perfectly. I believe the case just wants a smaller card.
