Is it okay to jog with a laptop in a sleeved backpack?

It's not a good thing for a laptop, but I'm wondering if it's generally ok to sometimes jog, since I do so to catch up with the bus.

What power state is the laptop in? Powered off? Sleep? Fully powered on?
Powered off -- no problem. Sleep -- no problem after a min if you have an HDD. If you have an SSD no problem.
Powered on -- Definitely not recommended if you have an HDD. All solid state should be OK, but I wouldn't recommend it.

External compression straps should be on any pack you use for run commuting, whether you carry a laptop or not. ... Your pack might be tight as can be against your body, which is great, but if there is space within your pack that is empty, the contents will bounce around.
