My pc is plugged-in to an extension cord which is always turn-on because the internet modem is also plugged in to it and my roommates are nightshift and they need the internet connection for their work related transaction. I know it is kinda very amateur question to ask but I want to make sure it is safe and another reason is I don't want to keep unplugging my pc whenever I turn it off if keeping it all time plugged-in is generally safe.

What kind of peril might you be worried about?

I see no problem.
In fact, I might suggest not even powering off the pc.
Use sleep to ram(no hibernate)
That puts your pc onto a very low power state, essentially power off.
Sleep/wake becomes only a handful of seconds.

is turning it off can cause problems in the pc?

Some argue that the power on/off cycle will stress hardware.
I really doubt that is an issue.

It is always possible that anything plugged in could be damaged by a power surge,
Not very likely if the outlet is grounded and you have a quality psu.
A power strip with a surge protector could help and a UPS might be even better.

I think going down this rabbit path is a bit paranoid.

My advice...
Leave it plugged in and use sleep instead of powering off.

Nothing will happen as long as your pc is made in the last 25 years.
In case you do it ,as many people do it ,dont force the pc to shut down with the power button ,instead turn it off by pressing ALT+F4 or Windows key and click on shut down, its slower but it doesnt damage the data and the components.
Dont let the pc in sleep mode ,please ,it consumes a lot more power and it wears out the fans after some time (they will work 24/7 and thats not ok) also ,it can damage your motherboard after some time.
