is it possiable for my i5 750 to bottleneck a gtx 980

Solution
So the answer is YES, it is possible, but should not most of the time in most cases. The big question is why do you need to know? That answer will help us with more specific advice.
In games it could slightly, potentially, but at that resolution games are going to be blown away by the 980, and you should probably get a new monitor, because that resolution is really low, whereas the 980 is capable of so much more, 4+ times more. You shouldn't worry, but you should think about an upgrade, maybe when Broadwell comes out, or maybe even Skylake, modern CPU's and Motherboards have many advantages over LGA 1156 Motherboards and CPU's, such as Sata-E, More PCI Lanes, and better performance, but in games Westmere is still decent and does not vary much compared to modern CPU's.

Following on from this, Games like Civ, Battlefield 4 and HL2 (And its derivatives) Will run slower on you're CPU and probably bottleneck, as they are all CPU demanding games (HL2 Is just badly optimised and requires Hal-9000 to run).
