Is it possible acetone damaged my CPU? Please help...

So, I removed thermal paste from CPU a couple of times with Acetone. Now, I hear all stories how it could be very lethal and dangerous for CPU.

I really don't want to buy a new CPU just because I used acetone to remove thermal paste...
So, did I damage my CPU?

Are you having problems with the cpu? Acetone isn't a good choice as a cleaner, you should use isopropyl alcohol or a specific cpu cleaner, but unless you slopped it all over it, or soaked it in it, it's probably ok. IF it's running fine, I wouldn't worry too much about it. There's nothing you can do if it IS damaged, aside from replacing it, anyhow.

Is it possible I could "weaken" it? Yeah, I put acetone all over it :/

Anything is possible, but if it's currently running fine, you probably didn't damage anything. Have you reinstalled it already?
