Is it possible that a new hard drive with a new copy of Windows (8.1) installed on it remove Trojan viruses?

I'm not sure if I could've made a follow-up new thread or what not linking this to my original thread detailing the problem but anyway that's what originally went wrong with my system with Trojan infections.
I will get myself a new hard drive to serve as my primary drive where the OS will be installed so I was wondering if this fresh installation will get rid of the Trojans that I'd been having. I figure it should unless I'm mistaken, any clarification would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Yes, a new HDD with a fresh Windows install will be malware-free but as soon as it's up and running you need to install some trusted & effective online security software 'cos it sounds as though what you're using now (if you're using anything at all) just isn't good enough.

I use Comodo Internet Security on two PCs and they never get infected with any malware.

These are the antiviruses that I'd been using alongside Malwarebytes' Anti-Rootkit software and it'd found dozens of viruses so I'll definitely check that outs once I get the new OS up and running on the new drive.

with any pc to keep it clean follow a few simple rules. with emails make sure there sent from people you know a lot of fake spoof emails will get your pc infected. also watch out where your friends send you. make sure you use a pop up blocker. a lot of web pages now can be infected with drive by installers. having a pop up blocker will limit those drive by from installing. free software and driver installers. a lot of free software and free sites are virus warehouses. or malware software. when installing any software read what being installed. java and flash now install a lot of non needed software.

A new hard drive with a windows clean installation will solve your problem for now but as others have mentioned you need to install a good antivirus which provides good online security and keep checking your computer regularly with malware bites tools to keep the adwares and junk away. If you need an antivirus which is light on your ram and does the job you can try avira anitvirus,it provides good online security suite.
