Hi:

I am having a little trouble following this topic in the Asus Motherboard manual.

I am in the process of purchasing a Asus Maximus Hero Xiii Motherboard and a 11 Gen CPU. I will be using the following slots:

PCIE x16_1 (Video Card)
PCIE x16_2 (USB 2.0, 4 Port Card)
PCIE x16_3 (USB 2.0, 4 Port Card)

PCIE x1 (Sound Card)

I want to also use the following M.2 Slots with some Western Digital NVME Cards:

M.2_1 in PCIE 4.0 Mode SN-850 NVME
M.2_2 in PCIE 4.0 Mode SN-850 NVME
M.2_3 in PCIE 3.0 Mode SN-750 NVME

Is the above setup possible.

If so, how many of the SATA Ports be disabled.

Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Michael

Solution
Yes, as long as one or both of the USB cards are only x4.
Here is a spec sheet that is pretty clear for you to look at, pages vii and viii.
SATA ports are disabled with this setup if PCIEX16 is used -- if x2 mode used then SATA6G_34 is disabled, and if the slot is used at x4 then both SATA6G_34 and 12 are disabled.

Hi:

I have seen so many posts about problems when using the M.2 Slots, I think that I will use the 3 x M.2 Slots as I mentioned and just avoid the USB Ports Cards and just go for an external USB Hub instead. This way I should have no issues as you mentioned.

Thanks for your assistance.
