[SOLVED] Is it possible to change the CPU (FX-8320) on a AM3+ board to a Ryzen 5?

Hi,

I have an old build left at my parents house, which had an FX-8320 on a high end board, cannot remember what board other than it was AM3+. Would it be possible to remove the FX-8320 and replace with Ryzen 5 2600?

Probably not possible, but worth me asking and considering before spending a load of money on building a new system.

Any guidance, even if just a yes or no, is really appreciated.

Afraid not. You'd need a platform change/upgrade. AM4 motherboard--something in the B450 flavour, maybe.

You'd also need to upgrade the memory as well. AM3+ is DDR3 while AM4 is DDR4.
