Is it possible to clone a partition?

Hi guys!

So, today i bought my first SSD (120GB) and it came with a copy of Acronis software to clone my current drive into it. I currently have a HDD (1TB) divided into two partitions

Partition 1: 100GB (Windows + light programs) (About 50GB used)
Partition 2: 900GB (All my stuff)

Now when i tried to clone with Acronis, i was looking forward to clone my Partition 1 (C) into the new SSD, so that i could have

SSD = Partition 1 (+ the extra space of the SSD, which would be 20GB)
HDD = Partition 2 (+ the extra space of the cleared partition 1 after the clone)

Is this possible to do? To clone just one partition into the SSD and leave the stuff like i wrote? Or I will have to backup my entire 1TB HDD somewhere else because i will have to erase everything after the cloning?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure about the free copy that came with your SSD, but the Acronis True Image suite does allow you to clone partitions proportionally and just the ones you pick. You can also create an image of that partition and then restore it separatelly. That way you could just restore the OS (which would produce a smaller file) and then the files of the data partition can manually be copied without the need to clone the partition as it doesn't have any OS in it.

I have also found online EaseUS Todo Backup which people say its pretty good.

I do not have the complete version of Acronis, the SSD gave me a key which i entered at the Acronis webpage and the gave me a 64 digit key to enter into the software.

The thing with Acronis is that at the end the result would be like this

SSD: Partition 1 = Partition 1 (From HDD) + Partition 2= Free remaining space of the SSD

Which i do now want, i just want 1 partition on the SSD with windows and the remaining space, and then my HDD with a single partition to store all my stuff.

In Macrium Reflect, you want to select those 1st 3 partitions to clone to the new drive.
350MB, 96.88GB, and 450MB.

I have succesfully cloned the 3 partitions to the SSD and i just booted from the SSD (i have unpluged my HDD for the moment while i check everything is running smoothly on the clone).

Now for the last part, is there any chance to erase the partitions on my HDD (except the 800GB one with my data) and to add thosed erased partitions to the 800GB existing one?

Any of the current partition tools should be able to do that. EaseUS Partition Master, for instance

Everything went great, i thank you a lot for your assistance today, it has been invaluable for me. The HDD is now a single partition, and my SSD has been cloned succesfully.

The only thing missing is that in the SSD there are 14GB that have been not located, and im pretty sure that from now on its the boot disk there is no chance of adding those 14GB to Disk C: without messing with the OS am i right?

My thoughts exactly, guess ill leave them there until the next time i feel the urge to format the windows partition for whatever reason and get it right then.

I used the software you told me, which worked like a charm, but anyway, once more thank you for your assistance today!
