Question Is it possible to connect GPU fans to the motherboard ?

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550M-A
GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3060Ti XC Gaming

Long story short, the GPU fans won't spin (tested on other rigs, lots of troubleshooting done as well). I can't afford a new GPU or diagnostics/repair.

If this fails I'm just gonna slap on some CPU fans with some electric tape and call it a day.

No - do not do that.

More information needed.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List all attached peripherals.

Key is to identify the problem however frustrating that process may be.

"not much work."

In many situations and environments it does not take much "work" for all to go astray.

Start by determining the problem.

This:

"Compatible with the following graphic cards:"

May only mean that the connections connect. - not that it all will work.

Caveat Emptor applies.

Indeed, pins connect. Results = smoke, sparks, fire.

Details matter.

Confirm the pinouts.

I understand what you're saying as far as identifying the problem goes, but as stated I've already tried the GPU on 3 other rigs belonging to friends and family. I forgot to mention I took it in to a PC shop that thankfully didn't charge me to test my GPU on their rigs, and they all had the same result. Everything but the fans work.

Could just buy this and replace, not much work.
Unscrew the fans, unplug the 4pin connector, do the same just the other way :).
My Google-fu needs work as I couldn't find this prior. Thank you. I have already taken apart the GPU to see if the connections were faulty or just came off but everything looked fine. I'll try replacing the fans and go from there. If all else fails, connect CPU fans to motherboard, strap em to GPU and manually set fan speeds.

Do you have a multimeter?!
You should measure the fan plug/output of the GPU to see if it provides power to the fans in the first place, no sense in spending money on new fans if the card isn't going to power them.

Since you would have to do that with the system turned on do not do it if you have no experience. Go ask that computer shop.

(Also it's goin to be hard to set multiple CPU fans when mobos only support one CPU, use case fans)

Thank you all for the responses. I'm very very grateful.

Agree with the above.

Actually I would expect that that computer shop would have done some checking via a multi-meter.

Maybe I am expecting too much.....

No harm in asking the shop.
I don't have one but I'll ask a couple shops in the area if they have such devices. Thank you.

On some graphics card models fans start spinning only after certain temperature threshold has been reached.
Your card may have this feature.
Tried fiddling with it using different software, including EVGA's to no avail. Even with manual settings the fans just sit there.

If the pins on the gpu aren’t giving power, Linus actually has an old video about doing what the op is talking about using zip ties. I guess as long as it works.

Thank you for this. Bookmarked just in case.
