I plan on buying a PS4, I have a dual monitor setup and I want to connect my PS4 to one of my monitors, this poses no problems. However, like a TV, is it possible to have both my console and PC connected to the monitor at the same time and choose what signal it displays. This way I wouldn't have to unplug and re plug the wires every time I wanted to switch.

Depends, some monitors have dual inputs and you can switch between inputs using OSD. You could get a breakout cable which allows you to have two inputs onto one connector but you'll actively need to manage which device is power up and running since it could damage the connector or worse the monitor.

Make and model of your monitor? Best would be to connect the PS4 to your TV since they will have options to switch between inputs using a remote or OSD.

provided the screen has more than one input and is switchable no problem. my PS3 is connected to my TV, which also happens to be my main monitor. my secondary has dual inputs and can handle another input. whichever screen has speakers is the one for the dual use. that or you will need to reroute the audio from the console or use a headset.

to game switch inputs and go. I could use the secondary for this but it has no speakers.
